ABOUT SHARING BREAD
Sharing Bread is a humanitarian initiative by InnergyMix®, an international wellness brand that strongly believes in its shared socio-economic responsibility in the communities it has established marketplace.
The Sharing Bread initiative is an ambitious response to the crying call-to-action by God and humanity. When you read the book of Isaiah chapter 58, it is easy to identify the similarities of hardship described in that passage with our world today.
According to the 2022 report by the World Economic Forum, 1 out of 5 people in Africa (278 million people) suffers from chronic hunger. By comparison, only ten per cent of the globe’s population is affected by chronic hunger while the continent of Africa alone is double that. The main drivers of hunger include wars, climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic as reported by the 2021 Welthungerhilfe annual report.
Nigeria is one of those African countries in dire need of our support. The 2021 Global Hunger Index ranked Nigeria 103 out of the 116 countries facing critical hunger levels.
Due to global inflation and insufficient food supply, prices of basic food items such as eggs, yams, beans and rice have gone up by over 49%. This has made it very difficult for millions of Nigerians, talk-less of the poor and homeless. In 2021 61.1% of households in the southeastern region of Nigeria were found to be food insecure.
